Privacy Policy

Antlr ("we", "us") is a deer-hunting scouting and planning app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with, and your choices. The categories below mirror our App Store privacy label and the app's bundled privacy manifest.

What we collect

• Precise location — waypoints, observations, your position on the map, terrain scans, and (when you turn it on) live location during a camp trip. See "Background location" below.
• Photos — when you attach them to observations, waypoints, trail-camera captures, or your harvest book.
• Name and email address — supplied by Sign in with Apple, or by you during email sign-in. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address.
• Account identifier — an internal ID, plus your chosen call sign if you set one.
• Content you create — pins, scans, sign logs, notes, hunt plans, camp posts, and questions you ask in the app.
• Audio — only while you are actively using voice search on the map. Speech is transcribed to text for that query and is not retained as a recording.

We do not collect contacts, browsing history, health data, or financial data, and the app contains no advertising SDK and no advertising identifier.

Background location

Antlr collects location in the background in exactly two situations, both of which you start explicitly:

• While you are recording a track, so the route keeps recording with your phone in your pocket.
• While you are running an opt-in, time-limited live share with a camp, so members can see where you are.

Background collection stops when you stop the recording or the share, and live shares also expire automatically. iOS shows its own indicator whenever an app is using your location in the background. You can revoke location access entirely in iOS Settings.

How we use it

To provide the app: store your scouting data, generate terrain analysis, hunt plans and interpretations, and power the camp features you choose to use. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Automated analysis

Terrain scans, hunt plans, photo interpretation and in-app questions are produced using a third-party AI processing provider. To generate them we send that provider the relevant inputs — which may include the map area you are analysing, notes you wrote, and photos you attached. The provider processes this on our behalf under contractual terms that prohibit using it to train their models. Results are stored in your account.

Community aggregate

Sighting and sign data may contribute to an anonymised regional aggregate that helps other hunters see general activity patterns. Before contributing, your identity is replaced with a one-way hash that rotates every month, and a region only becomes visible once at least five separate contributors' data is mixed into it. The aggregate does not expose your individual pins, your account, or your exact locations.

Sharing

Your content is private to your account unless you share it — by creating or joining a camp, accepting an invite, posting to a camp feed, or enabling live location for a trip. Camp members can see what you post to that camp.

We also use service providers that process data on our behalf: application and database hosting, object storage for photos, map and terrain tile services, transactional email delivery, and the AI processing described above. Separately, our map component's vendor collects its own telemetry (including location and usage) for its own analytics; you can opt out of that from the information (ⓘ) control on the map. Speech transcription for voice search is performed by Apple.

Your choices & rights

• Delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and the data you own; it is immediate and cannot be undone.
• Revoke permissions — location, camera, photos, microphone — in iOS Settings at any time.
• Block other users and report content from within the app.
• Access or correct your data, or ask questions about this policy, by emailing us at the address below.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data, including access, correction, deletion, and objecting to certain processing. Contact us and we will respond.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, the data you own is removed promptly; encrypted backups age out on our providers' normal rotation. Anonymised aggregate contributions cannot be attributed back to you and are not reversed by deletion.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Sign-in credentials are held in the iOS Keychain, and the app's offline copy of your data is protected by iOS file-level encryption.

Children

Antlr is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
